: Komunitas
Association took part as a guest at a special 10th edition of the ethnologic
film festival EtnoFilmFest, which took place in Berlin during November
7-11 (http://www.ethnofilmfest.de).
:: The festival was hosted by the Museum of Ethnology (Ethnologisches
Museum) and its main interest for this year was Romania related films.
The motto of the 2007 edition of the festival was "Under the influence
of reality". The festival included some 75 documentary films, fiction,
experimental and animations, produced especially by young directors.
In fact, the festival is formed into a platform for affirmation of young
anthropological film.
:
Two members of Komunitas took part in the festival, organising different
actions within it, presenting various installations and a film, and
holding a workshop on one of the Association's projects. In the days
before the opening of the festival, we organized outdoor screenings
together with staff members of the festival. We projected a visual instalation
on a pavement in the Warschauer Straße area and one of the walls
of the Museum of Ethnology. The instalations were made by the video
team 'You and Me', which works within Komunitas. During the film festival
we presented 'Revolta Bicicletelor' and talked about the situation of
alternative transport (environmental) in Bucharest. The film is available
at: http://guide2.libertv.ro/guide/code/front/index.php?id_episode=1761
: Komunitas
Association also held a workshop presentation of the project Mobile
Cinema. We talked about using tactics of visual media, informal education
by means of audio-video, about the access to culture of disadvantaged
communities, about using abandoned spaces for artistic purposes. Am
ilustrat discutia prin citeva filme pregatite special pentru acest workshop.
We illustrated the discussion in several films prepared specifically
for this workshop. One of them can be seen here:
:: Our presentations were received with interest by the participants,
especially the workshop about the Mobile Cinema, about which organizers
from ASTRA Film Fest have also talked about (festival of visual anthropology
and documentary film in Sibiu).
: We have received congratulations and encouragements to continue this
project. In fact, it was the first time that we presented the multiple
dimensions of the project and information to the public. We enjoyed
to see the high interest of those who have assisted in the workshop.
It was a positive feedback for us and a motivation to go on.
MOBILE
CINEMA - Berlin, May 2007
:: The "Mobile
Cinema" ended after 3 months of travel through Romania, and the
Projector Tank team decided to stop in Berlin on their way home in order
to carry out two film screenings.
:: The first event was supposed to be held in the courtyard of a friend
who lives near Rosenthaler Platz in the center of East Berlin. Everything
was prepared and a lot of friends and acquaintances were invited to
watch "Workingman's Death," a documentary about hard precarious
conditions in which certain individuals work for a living.
: The rain which began unexpectedely made us watch the movie indoors.
The apartment became too crowded, but everyone held their position until
the very end. A discussion and a glass of wine and beer followed, then
each returned home in the rain. The documentary speaks for itself and
does not require further discussion.
: The second event took place in the bar Schreina 47, located at the
ground floor of a former squat in Friedrichshain. The subject was proposed
and organized by another friend in Berlin, who, a year before, had done
an internship at Komunitas. The theme proposed by him was nationalism
in Romania, and the movies were: Folklore (D-Media) and Home, and two
films in Bucharest during Gay Parade (2005/2006) and the anti-discrimination
march (2007) , Organized under the slogan "Normality? No, Thanks”
by an informal group from Bucharest. The screenings were followed by
lengthy discussions during which, the organizers (including a member
Komunitas) were bombarded with questions about the situation in Romania.
This event was attended by a lot of people who had visited Romania in
the past or who were interested in particular about the situation in
Romania. After screenings and discussions people have been invited to
see the exhibition of photography made by one of the organizers, on
the theme of nationalism and the relationship between the Left and Right
politics of Romania. Part of the money that was gathered at the bar
were donated in order support actions carried out by an informal group
from Romania.
:: At the time the Mobile Cinema arrived in Germany, Berlin was preparing
for the G8 summit which was about to start in Heilingendamm / Rostock
after a few days.
:: At the
end of May, the Projector Tank team left Berlin, and headed towards
London.
