:: In February 2008, the project "The School Cinema" began, funded by the European Commission within the frame of Youth in Action, Action 1. "The School Cinema" is a project of non-formal education through visual media (film and photo) , which will last until November 2008.

The project objectives are: to promote solidarity between young people who belong to so called 'middle' or 'high classes »and youngsters who live in disadvantaged urban communities (ghettos); promoting tolerant attitudes and anti-discrimination, use of audio-video methods as a means of non-formal education; production of movies and using the film as a tactic for self-representation and empowerment.

In this project will attend the following educational institutions: Scoala Generala 136, Scoala Generala 114 «Principesa Margareta », Colegiul National «George Cosbuc» si Liceul de Muzica «Dinu Lipatti». In the following draft attend educational institutions: General School 136, 114 School General " Princess Margarita ", National College" George Cosbuc »and School of Music" Dinu Lipatti ".In a first phase, the project involves organizing screenings of films and debates in the institutions mentioned. In the second stage we will proceed to the involvement of students in making and distributing their own video productions.

There is a blog where we upload photos and cover different aspects of the project, including the difficulties we faced, because we are sure that anyone who has initiated and managed a project knows what such work implies.

: Since 1 January 2008 Komunitas Association has been working on the project CULTURES FROM AROUND THE BLOCK achieved (in the Year for Intercultural Dialogue) in partnership with: Multicultural Centre Prague, Research House (UK), Rejs eV Import-Export: Kultur (Germany) , Nadacia Milan Simecku (Slovakia), Fundacja Nowa Ameryka (Poland) and Centre d'Action Interculturelle Bruxellois (Belgium). In this project, Komunitas Association is working with 4 teams composed of students of High Schools "George Cosbuc", "Ion Barbu" "Dinu Lipatti" in Bucharest, making various photography and sound workshops. During these workshops, which will be held until June, students will be familiarized with the use of photo and audio equipment, and supported for creating materials which have, as main themes, self-representation, diversity and intercultural dialogue. Participants are aged between 14 and 17, from different social backgrounds, so, in this context, the ways they choose to represent themselves will be diverse and innovative.

The materials made by students will be presented in some exhibitions to be held in participating high schools (September / October), the Romanian Peasant Museum (October) and in the festival "Dialogues of Cultures" (Prague / November 2008)
